A breathtakingly rare folk private pressing recorded in 1969 that is so wonderfully obscure that until recently it was only faintly rumoured to exist. Having remained hidden and unknown to collectors for over 40 years we now present this fully re-mastered CD reissue documenting this curious university quartet?s brief yet fascinating existence. Focusing mainly on folklore and odd characters during the ?olden days? in ancient Ireland, the group?s leader and singer hailed from Tralee near Limerick in the Emerald Isle and it?s his deep-felt, rousing delivery throughout thatgives much impetus to the dozen tracks which feature guitars, mandolin, harmonica, kazoo, jug and tin whistle! Whilst rooted mostly in traditional folk style, the dyed-in-the-wool approach begins to morph into late 60s hippiedom as the album progresses. Those into Dr Strangely Strange, Tir Na Nog and COB etc will no doubt treasure this little gem. Highlights include a boisterous rendition of ?Eileen Og?, a worthy re-working of Mike Heron?s ?Log Cabin Home In The Sky?, ?The Curragh of Kildare? and ?Flowers In The Valley? plus the whimsical brilliance in ?The Medley?. Comes with band history and rare items of memorabilia.
